Isiolo leaders condemn shooting of MCA Lorot, demand swift justice

Isiolo County leaders have condemned the shooting of Burat Ward MCA Nicholas Lorot, who was attacked by an armed assailant near Trojan Petrol Station in Isiolo Town on Thursday, March 26, 2025.
According to reports, the MCA had just left a restaurant after a meeting with a senior leader from the Isiolo County Assembly when an armed assailant approached his vehicle and opened fire.
Lorot lost his thumb while attempting to deflect the gunshot with his right hand and sustained two additional gunshot wounds in the same arm.
He was rescued and taken to St. Theresa Mission Hospital in Kiirua, Meru County, where he is currently in stable condition.
Isiolo Governor Abdi Hassan Guyo has strongly condemned the attack and called on security agencies to expedite investigations and bring those responsible to justice.
“The attack on Hon. Lorot is unacceptable, and I strongly condemn this heinous act. I have directed security agencies to act swiftly in ensuring the perpetrators are brought to book," he said.
The Isiolo County Assembly confirmed the incident, condemning those behind the attack, stating that they were working closely with security agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice.
"The County Assembly of Isiolo vehemently condemns the brazen shooting of Hon. Nicholas Lorot, Member of the County Assembly for Burat Ward. The incident occurred near the Northern Galaxy Hotel in Isiolo Town. He was rushed to a medical facility following the attack," the County Assembly said in a statement.
